Getting to know Vacaville

Vacaville sits on Interstate 80 roughly midway between the Bay Area and Sacramento, which shapes who rents here: commuters heading both directions, households connected to Travis Air Force Base, and people working for the city's medical and biotech employers. Housing stock runs newer than the Bay Area average, with subdivisions from several decades ringing an older downtown core.

Downtown & the older core

The walkable blocks around Main Street hold Vacaville's older homes and its civic center, close to Andrews Park and the creek that runs through it. Our office is in the middle of this district.

The subdivisions

Most of Vacaville's rental homes are in postwar and newer subdivisions north and east of downtown, generally larger floor plans on suburban streets, near schools, parks, and the retail corridors along I-80.

Commuting

I-80 is the spine: the Bay Area one way, Sacramento the other. City Coach buses cover town, SolanoExpress buses link the I-80 cities, and Capitol Corridor trains stop at the Fairfield-Vacaville Hannigan station on the Sacramento-to-Bay-Area line.

Dixon and the rest of the county are on our Solano County page.
