Getting to know Dixon

Dixon is a farm town that kept its scale: a compact downtown, established neighborhoods around it, and newer subdivisions at the edges, surrounded by working agricultural land. Renters come for small-town rents within an easy drive of UC Davis, Sacramento, and the I-80 job corridor, and for the kind of quiet that larger cities on the corridor gave up.

The old town

Downtown Dixon and the streets around it hold the town's older homes, its shops, and its civic buildings, with the fairgrounds that host the annual Dixon May Fair nearby. Older housing stock brings character and maintenance realities in equal measure.

The newer edges

Subdivisions from recent decades ring the old town, generally larger floor plans on suburban streets. This is where most of Dixon's rental turnover happens.

Commuting

I-80 connects Dixon to Vacaville, Sacramento, and the Bay Area. SolanoExpress buses link Dixon with UC Davis and Sacramento, Readi-Ride covers trips inside town, and Capitol Corridor trains stop in nearby Davis and at Fairfield-Vacaville Hannigan.

Vacaville and the rest of the county are on our Solano County page.
