Join in the joint celebration of Petaluma's 150th Anniversary and America's Independence
at a good old fashioned community event that includes food, fun for kids, frivolity (translate
live music and entertainment) and of course, FIREWORKS.  Gates open at 3 p.m. and an
extra special fireworks deslplay begins at o'dark thirty (translate dark).  Admission is $5 for
people over 13 years of age.  Those 13 and under get in FREE!  It's a big ole summertime
good time, don't miss it.

SESQUIFEST PRESENTATION OF 'THE PETALUMA RIVER ANTHOLOGY'

"The Petaluma River Anthology" is a profound, funny and touching original documentary/
musical theater piece created by Cinnabar's Young Rep in collaboration with playwright
Brian Glenn Bryson for Petaluma's Sesquicentennial Celebration.  Twenty-five students
(ages 9-18) conducted interviews with Petaluma's community leaders (Mayor, Fire Chief,
etc.), seniors whose families have been in Petaluma for generations, and local humanities
experts (Museum Curators, Librarians, Historians, etc.)  students asked them to share the
most compelling stories they know about Petaluma's history, including stories from their
own lives.  All of the words in the play were taken from the interview tapes and each
student will play the person they interviewed, drawing their portrayal from careful
observation of their subject's mannerisms and rhythms, both vocal and physical.  Original
songs by local musicians, past and present, will be woven through the piece in stirring
song and dance numbers.  Program begins 3:45 p.m. Admission is included in SesquiFest
admission.

Annual Lavender Festival at the Petaluma Farmer's Market featuring live music and all
things Lavender including including Lavender Ice Cream, Fresh Cut and Dried Lavender, Lavender
plants and more.  There will be over 50 booths selling, farm fresh prudece, honey , fresh cut
flowers, fresh baked goods and hot foods.

Admission is free Every Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. visit more than 50 booths selling farm
fresh produce (much of it organic), fresh cut flowers, vegetable starts, live oysters, olive
oil, fresh cheeses, fresh baked goods, hot foods, a jumping house, pony rides, face painting and hand made crafts.  Market is open through Oct 25.

For those who missed the opening performance of this celebratory production at the
Sesquifest on July 4, "The Petaluma River Anthology," a profound, funny, and touching
original documentary/musical theater piece created by Cinnabar's Young Rep in
